These types of arrhythmias cause your heart to beat too fast, which prevents oxygen-rich blood from circulating to the brain and body and may result in cardiac arrest. Ventricular tachycardia is a heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia) caused by abnormal electrical signals in the lower chambers of the heart (ventricles). This condition may also be called V-tach or VT. A healthy heart normally beats about 60 to 100 times a minute at rest. Ventricular fibrillation is one type of arrhythmia that can be deadly. It occurs when the heart beats with rapid, erratic electrical impulses. This causes the lower chambers in your heart (ventricles) to quiver uselessly instead of pumping blood. Ventricular arrhythmias represent the major mechanism of cardiac sudden death, which is the leading cause of death in the United States, where each year more than 325,000 people die suddenly.

Patients with a substantial risk of sudden death usually need an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Although ICDs effectively end most episodes of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation and decrease mortality in specific populations of patients, they have Signal-averaged ECGs are done when arrhythmia is suspected, but not seen on a resting ECG. The signal-averaged ECG has increased sensitivity to abnormal ventricular activity called "late potentials." Signal-averaged ECG is used in research and seldom used in clinical practice. Electrophysiologic studies (EPS). Ventricular arrhythmia. Bidirectional ventricular ectopy; Torsades de pointes; Ventricular escape rhythm; Ventricular extrasystoles. Polymorphic and polytopic ventricular extrasystoles; Ventricular fibrillation; Ventricular preexcitation. Ventricular preexcitation with multiple accessory pathways; Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome These ventricular arrhythmias in some cases terminate by themselves, causing a blackout from which the person then recovers.

As arritmias ventriculares são aquelas que nascem nos ventrículos.

SUMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS

Ventricular arrhythmia

Symptoms include chest pain, dizziness, fainting, and headache. Treatment for ventricular arrhythmia includes taking medication. Ventricular fibrillation (VF) is a life threatening arrhythmia, which leads to death unless promptly corrected by electrical defibrillation (direct current or DC shock).

Although a few seconds may not result in problems, longer periods are dangerous. Short periods may occur without symptoms, or present with lightheadedness, palpitations, or chest pain.
